Great North Run 2017

10 September 2017

As the world’s most popular half marathon, Brain Research Trust is delighted to have charity places available.

Part of the Great Run series, this premier event showcases some of the best and iconic scenery in the north east of England including the Tyne Bridge and famous Gateshead International Stadium. With the final stretch of the course in the coastal town of South Shields, there is cause for celebration on completion with live music and refreshments available.

In 2016 Kelly White and Mary Diffly, both teachers at the Northumberland Church of England Academy, ran the Great North Run, raising £1,500, after a boy in their class, Matthew, was rushed to hospital with a brain infection.

Kelly, who is also epileptic, said “I am a neurological mess! I would like to help research into the brain as has affected my life so much.” They organised ‘A Mile For Matthew’ with 56 of the children from Matthew’s school running a mile to raise money for us.

Taking place on Sunday 10 September 2017, the Great North Run 2017 is perfect for runners of all experiences and a great way to fundraise for great charities.

Let's unite to accelerate the progress of brain research today. Run and be part of Team #BrainResearch.
